Europe League forecast for all pairs in the round of 32

13 February 2011, 12:39:37

Here is my own forecast for the first matches of the 1/16 of the European League.

Napoli - Villarreal
It's quite an interesting couple. These teams haven't played against each other yet. Spain looks to play better than Italy, that's why Villarreal will go ahead.

Rangers - Sporting Lisboa
Amazing but true that in such couples Scoutch used to win but this time I think Liedson and Co. will win.

Sparta Prag - Liverpool
Money/Stuff will decide all. Unfortunately, the youth of Sparta is not strong enough to win against Liverpool and I think in this game English will hardly find a new Patrik Berger.

Anderlecht - Ajax
Both teams are regular players of the European Cups, but last year it was the first time they played against each other. Anderlecht won last time, but this time reviving Ajax is going to celebrate.

Lech Poznan - Braga
First, Braga sold its most powerful player, the Brasilian Matheus, to Dnepr. Second, Lech is quite strong this year. But...there is a long winter break in Poland and from the other side, the championship is well underway in Portugal...But I still think somehow Lech will win.

Besiktas - Dynanmo Kiev
In spite of being a Dynamo Kiev fan, I'm quite sure that my team won't win. The team changed the coach not a long time ago. There are 40 players but just a few are good enough to play in the top 11. That's why I vote for Besiktas.

Basel - Spartak Moscow
Nobody knows what Spartak is ready for. There is a winter break in Russia but after Romantsev left (2003) the team there is total break at all... So Basel has all chances to win.

YB Bern - Zenit
Gazprom invests too much money, that's why any kind of loss is like a personal defeat for Putin and Ko. The most expensive team just playing in EL! In September the Russian team was sure to break through in the game against Auxerre in a qualifying round, but it didn't. We can call it "Swiss syndrome" ;-) because before this defeat another Russian team, Moscow Lokomotiv lost in a game against the second-rate Lousanne. But I still think this time Zenit will go through.

Aris - Manchester City
How many "Aris" does the "City" contain? ;-) Each player of the City is more worth than the whole "Aris"... The Greek can just hope that City is more interested in Premier League, that they passionatly struggle for.

PAOK - CSKA Moscow
Both teams are quite equal. But the CSKA players are definitely better.

Sevilla - Porto
Just some years ago it could be the most interesting final game. But Sevilla of Juande Ramos and Sevilla today are not the same.

Rubin Kazan - Twente
Rubin is good in defence, that even was admitted by Barselona, and Twente is good in attack. So I think Twente has all chances to go through.

Lille - PSV Eindhoven
Lille is the first in France, PSV is the first in Holland. But PSV has more European practice.

SL Benfica - Stuttgart
Stuttgart is in a difficult situaton on its way to the second Bundesliga. So Benfica has all chances to win.

BATE Borisov - Paris-Saint-Germain
BATE will fight to the end, but Paris is just stronger. Although AZ and CS Maritimo seemed also to be stronger than BATE...

Bayer Leverkusen - Metalist Kharkiv
Yes!!! Metallist will win! Metallist's selection team works brilliantly! And how the team of Leverkusen, that lost against the second-rated Nueremberg, could win against such stars like Devic, Cleiton, Cristaldo, Taison, Marcelo Blanco and Villagra?
